This course is designed to connect the Language Modeling Dimension of the PreK and Toddler CLASS tool to children with disabilities in ANY setting. Learn how to improve the frequency of conversations, ask open-ended questions, use self-and parallel talk, increase advanced language, and repeat and extend student responses – for all learners. Emphasis will be placed on supporting children with disabilities who have significant communication delays or who are non-traditional communicators.
PLEASE NOTE: This course is only to begin AFTER the completion of a foundational CLASS training. A basic understanding of the CLASS tool is essential to understanding the content in this module. Please reach out to your early childhood specialists at TTAC ODU if you have any questions.
Participants will be able to:
- Objective: identify indicators and behavior markers of language modeling and understand how it all applies to diverse learners and communicators for settings using either the PreK and Toddler CLASS tool.
- Objective: utilize language modeling techniques through interactive activities.
- Objective: feel empowered to create opportunities for meaningful interactions in any early childhood environment.
